A Walk to Celebrate Spring

Do you have wonderful people in your life who share their favorite walking places with you?

We have to go for a walk! I’ve found this great place . . .
— Wonderful people in your life.

Springtime at Eau Galle Recreation Area.

One of my wonderful people, my fab mom to be precise, shared a truly magical place with me earlier this month: Eau Galle Recreation Area in Spring Valley, WI.

We spent a sunny afternoon hiking and walking and taking in the sights and smells and feel of spring: the trees budding out, the river running and singing, ramps in abundance and a truly gorgeous carpet of magical little wildflowers—everywhere.

Ramps! A sure sign of spring. And a tasty one too.

The fresh air, sunshine, and walking/hiking brought me peace and energy in equal measure. And an enormous amount of gratitude.

If you’ve been meaning to invite someone to walk in your favorite place with you, now is a good time. Take a walk to celebrate spring. And please feel free to share your favorite walking place in the comments below!

To maximize your walks this season, consider getting some of the really great apps that help you connect with nature. It is incredibly fun and satisfying to be able to identify wildflowers and trees and birds and wildlife tracks on the trail. The more we know about nature, the more we appreciate and the more we connect. And those are really good things.

I wish you the happiest walks to celebrate spring. I’ll be sharing more of mine here and on my socials so be sure to follow me there.

Happy Spring!

PS. A word about ramps: right now you may find them at your local farmer’s market or co-op. If, however, you find them when you’re out hiking or walking, harvesting them responsibly is very important. Here’s a quick read on best practices! Enjoy!

Walking somewhere new is good for the senses, good for the soul, good for the mind.

An ancient maple tree, just budding out and reaching for the sky.

I’ve always believed that trees can see their reflection. Don’t you?
